How would you react if someone offered to buy you a 1991 car that at the time was the very top of its class, full of accessories, all the time garaged and perfectly preserved ...

The first thing you think would probably be that, no matter what, it's a lot of "old man" and "he must have gone a long way." And this is where this Mercedes-Benz 300D Turbo would surprise you completely, since it has spent the last 29 years in the garage, with a figure of 378 on its kilometer clock.

It sounds almost completely unbelievable that such a high-quality car, almost three decades old, has not "turned the dial" several times before.

The car belongs to the W124 series, manufactured between 1984 and 1995. The W124 was the first model to be referred to as the E-Class, and its successor (W210) would officially take that name.

The models of this Mercedes series are renowned for their exceptional build quality, durability and ride reliability, as a very comfortable and spacious cabin.

This 300D Turbo is powered by Mercedes' most powerful diesel engine of the time, a three-cylinder six-cylinder with 143 horsepower and maximum torque of up to 270Nm. Its power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an automatic 4G-Tronic transmission.

The car was commissioned almost three decades ago in Spain, where it was first and only registered on December 4, 1991 in Huelva, not far from Seville. And since it was only one of the cars in his fleet, Mercedes remained forgotten in the garage until almost.

Otherwise, according to colleagues from the AutoRepublik website, according to the original 1991 price list, the initial price of a Mercedes 300D Turbo in Germany was 64,000, while the price of this copy was almost 85,000 of the former German marks. Taking into account the flow of time and the effects of inflation, that amount would today be equivalent to about 98,000 euros.

This "Spanish" Mercedes 300D Turbo, 29 years later, came into the hands of people from Mechatronik, a renowned specialist restaurateur and dealer of classic Mercedes cars (whose site contains some of the truly remarkable and unique models of the famous Bavarian manufacturer).

Kevin Bic, from Mechatronik, to whom we thank for the photos provided, confirms to that the car is indeed in excellent condition, which can be seen from the attached. Still, the prospective buyer should have everyone do the service, as years of standing have certainly left some trace on the mechanics.

The Mechatronik sells the car for 59,900 euros (with taxes paid), and the future buyer of this Mercedes, along with the car, gets a set of tools and the original 1991 Spanish license plate.

And even if one finds a modern classic in factory condition and with a small mileage, which was recently the case in Spain with a single Mercedes 300D from 1991, then it is a real "treat". Although the principle of "the more preserved - the more expensive" applies here.

Just like with this cult "bear", it also happened with one 1998 BMW 7 Series (E38) luxury car. The 740i-branded car is completely factory-preserved, having spent most of its "garage life" under a plastic balloon.

The luxury car, whose sale was advertised on eBay.de a few days ago (where you can see more photos), according to available data, belonged to a woman born in 1927 for a short time in the late 1990s. His further judgment is unknown.

Today, this "CEO" BMW is for sale in Poland, in the town of Gogolin, and as the ad states, there are only 255 kilometers per hour. At some point, the car was placed under an "fresh air flow capsule" that "prevented dust particles from touching the paint all these years."

This BMW 740i is equipped with a V8 4.4-liter engine with 282 horsepower, which is transmitted to the rear wheels by a five-speed ZF automatic transmission.

The car comes with a luxurious suite of equipment that includes all then-available safe driving systems (ABS, ESP, front, passenger and side airbags), power-adjustable windows and leather heated seats, adjustable steering wheel, automatic climate and parking sensors.

The seller points out that the car is not intended to be marketed in the US or Japan, so a prospective European buyer will be able to enjoy the comfort of driving an authentic 1990s-style sedan.

And for that pleasure they will have to allocate (much) more than 50,000 Euros, since at the moment of this text their bids were presented by 58 potential buyers, with 6 days remaining until the end of the auction. The current price is $ 55,049.
